The Glen Morey Country House Bed & Breakfast, located in Placerville, California, is truly a home away from home. It has all of the comforts of home—and the atmosphere to match. The house is encompassed by serene surroundings. Beautiful foliage provides a peaceful, private environment in which to relax and unwind.
The house, originally a square-framed farmhouse, was built in 1859 by Isaac Titus. Isaac was a prominent member of the community and eventually became Senator. The house was bought by Blacksmith Henry Morey in 1871, and he made major revisions to the humble abode. It remained in the Morey family until the middle of the century. Pictures of the Morey family still hang in the cozy bed & breakfast inn.
The house has had a diverse history, as can be seen on the inn’s website. When the current owners bought the home, they transformed it into a warm, inviting place for travelers. Subsequently, they added a private living area enabling them to be more accessible to guests.
Each of the five rooms at the Glen Morey House has a private bathroom. A unique feature of the house is that none of the rooms have shared walls with any of the other rooms. The common area allows opportunities for a variety of interests. Whether you enjoy reading, music, or playing games you will not be disappointed.
With the resident children, a dog, a cat, and even a few farm animals milling about, the inn takes on its original state as a modest working farm, sustaining a family. The structure of the inn makes the Glen Morey House a place that families can enjoy vacationing, while maintaining privacy for couples desiring a romantic getaway.
Guests can enjoy a “country” setting with the convenience of being close to shopping, restaurants, and other activities. With just a brief five-minute walk down the front path, across a foot-bridge, and into town, guests can experience the town’s amenities.
A delicious hot breakfast is offered at 9:00 a.m. each morning. Eggs from resident free-range chickens are frequently served. Many organic and vegetarian dishes are prepared for guests. Recipes are even posted on the Glen Morey House website.
